Fresh details have surfaced concerning the circumstances surrounding the demise of NTV journalist Rita Tinina.
A report lodged at Kileleshwa Police Station on Sunday, shortly after her discovery unconscious in her residence, indicated that she suffered from epilepsy.
According to the report, sourced from the deceased’s sister, Tinina had been enduring a severe fever for five days prior to her passing.
Additionally, the report revealed that the initial alert was raised by Helen Silau Njaga, Tinina’s sister, around 10:45 am upon discovering her unconscious body.
Tinina, aged 46, was found unresponsive on her bed in her Kileleshwa residence, where she resided with her eight-year-old daughter.
Upon Silau’s arrival, she found Tinina unconscious and promptly sought medical assistance. Paramedics confirmed Tinina’s passing upon their arrival.
As investigations commenced, the police transferred the deceased’s body to Umash Funeral Home.
Silau, speaking on behalf of the family, expressed shock over the incident and requested privacy for the family while promising more details later.
The news of Tinina’s demise plunged the media fraternity into mourning, with many acknowledging her as a pioneering figure.
State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed reminisced about Tinina’s assistance during a critical coverage event.
Meanwhile, ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo praised Tinina’s substantial contributions to journalism.
Tinina had previously worked at the Nation Media Group (NMG) before joining KTN News in 2012 as a senior reporter, and later returning to NTV in October 2023.
